James H. Holland
October 22, 1917 - July 5, 2012
On Thursday, July 5, 2012, the Lord called James H. Holland, to join him in His glorious Kingdom. He was born to the late Robert and Annie Board Holland in Moneta, VA on October 22, 1917.
James attended school at Olive Branch Elementary School, Moneta. He was a member of Promise Land Baptist Church, Moneta. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a Coal Miner in West Virginia and for Rubatex for many years. He loved spending time with family and friends, farming, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others.
James was preceded in death by one son, James Robert; one granddaughter, Angela; four brothers, Leon Derwood, William, Lewis, and Joseph; nine sisters, Gracie, Mammie, Lessie, Jean, Eleanor, Louise, Pauline, Alice, and Dorothy.
Those left to cherish his memory are one son, Lewis (Lois) Holland, of Moneta; one grandson William Holland, Jr., of Waverly; one granddaughter, Kimberly Holland, of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Albert Thomas, of Silver Spring, MD and Rufus Depriest (Mildred) Thomas, of Bowie, MD; two sisters, Sylvia Nadine (Richard) Parker, of Upper Marlboro, MD and Ola Lewis, of Kensington, MD; a devoted caregiver and friend, Ruby Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012, in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel with the Rev. Timothy Wright officiating. Interment will be in the Holland Family Cemetery, Moneta.
