Biography
Darlene Norval Belton Baskerville Jones, 60, of Roanoke, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 29, 2012. She was born on January 29, 1952, in Roanoke to the late Herbert Lee Belton, Sr. and Norval Payne Belton. Darlene was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Belton Houchins and brother, Herbert L. Belton, II.
After graduating from Lucy Addison High School in 1970 she attended Lear Siegler Institute in Silver Springs, Maryland where she studied Fashion Design. She spent most of her career in banking and customer service.
Darlene worked at Orvis Company until her passing. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with family and friends. Darlene was known around Roanoke for her sense of fashion, always “stylin” and “sharp”.
Those left to rejoice in her memory are her husband, Carl Jones, Sr.; her former husband, Debrosky Majesty Baskerville (Bass); her daughters, Kurrai (Victor) Thompson and Natasha (Torrey) Phanelson; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012, in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel with Pastor Sean Burch officiating and the Rev. Herbert Lee Belton, III, Eulogist. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Friends may call on Wednesday afternoon for viewing at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home.
