Kathy Laverne Keeling of Roanoke, Virginia went to be with her Lord at the age of 47 years old in the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital on May 19, 2007 at 3 p.m. She was born on November 26, 1959 to Evelyn H. Keeling and the late James a. Keeling. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Zenobia S. Hurt; maternal grandfather, Willie Hurt; paternal grandmother, Lottie W. Keeling; paternal grandfather, George E. Keeling. Kathy loved shaking her Maracka, listening to music, and enjoying car rides. She loved jello, bananas, apple sauce, sweet potato pie and all kinds of sweets. Above all she always had a smile. Survivors include her mother, Evelyn H. Keeling; sister, Deborah A. K. Hopson; brother-in-law, Robert L. Hopson Sr.; niece, Temika Hopson; nephew, Robert L. Hopson Jr.; devoted caregiver, Emma Mott. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007 in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel with Rev. Paul E. Johnson presiding. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
